In swedish. Songs that is. Not on the blog I’m affraid.
I can say now for certain that I will record a new album by the end of this summer. All the songs will be in swedish and I’ll release it, not as Montt Mardié, but as Monty.
Still by my side though, I’ll have my amazing band. Diablo, Yo-kee, Krill, Fry and Feefee are not only the greatest musicians I’ve ever known, they are also the best friends I guy like me could ever ask for.
In August we’ll go on a roadtrip down south to a beautiful studio in Varberg. I can’t wait.

The swedish paper Metro published an interview with me today, where I talked about Pop Dakar, the amazing festival I’m playing tomorrow. So check it out!

If I’d known my TPB song would get this much attention, I deffinetly would have spent more time composing and producing it. It was made really fast and in a very light-hearted spirit. Tomorrow I travell across Sweden towards the west-side and around noon I’ll end up in Gothenburg, where I’ll be joining Augustifamiljen at Liseberg for a wonderful show. If you’re in town, don’t miss it.

Hey,

An artist has got to make a living just like everybody else, there’s no doubt about it. And these are tough times, believe me I know. The thing is though, if I were to go back in time, 10 years or so, and tell the 15-year-old version of myself that over a night, 60 000 people had heard one of my songs, the first question I’d throw back at myself wouldn’t be “how much money did I make?”.

Don’t get me wrong, I love money and I want to make a lot of it. Bathe in it just like Uncle Scrooge. But money isn’t the main reason why I write songs. First and foremost I want people to hear them.

Times are so strage at the moment and a lot of people are angry and upset. Still, for each day that goes by I get more and more convinced that we shouldn’t try to fight the future, we should embrace it. Try to see opportunities instead of catastrophys.

I’ve written a song. I call it “We’re All The Pirate Bay”. It’s free and nobody will ever have to pay for it, though if you incist you are welcome to make a donation.

Att en artist måste tjäna sitt uppehälle råder det inget tvivel om. Och vi lever i tuffa tider, tro mig jag vet.
Men saken är den att, om jag skulle åka tillbaka i tiden, ungefär 10 år, söka upp mig själv som 15-åring och berätta att över en natt hade 100 000 människor hört en av mina låtar, så är jag säker på att 15-åringen inte först och främst hade frågat mig “hur mycket pengar tjänade du?”.

Missförstå mig rätt. Jag älskar pengar och vill tjäna massvis. Bada i det, precis som Farbror Joakim. Men pengar är inte huvudanledningen till att jag skriver sånger. Först och främst vill jag att människor ska höra dom.

Vi lever i en märklig tid just nu och det finns många som är arga och upprörda. Hur som, för var dag som går blir jag mer och mer övertygad om att vi inte bör försöka slåss mot framtiden, utan istället omfamna den. Försöka se möjligheter istället för katastrofer, efter som det är en strid ingen av oss kommer kunna vinna.
